Church Blog?
Welcome to the first official blog for Gateway Christian Life Centre!
As we have now celebrated the Christmas season and the end of 2019, we thought it would be the perfect time to be able to share with you; we have started a blog that will be posted to our website once a month!
A question you may be thinking, “Why does Gateway need a blog?”
Great question! The three reasons are:
1. To keep members & visitors informed
We have been working hard to keep our website up to date with as much information as possible for our church family to be in the know of how we are serving and what our church has to offer, and to any visitors who are looking for a church to attend on a Sunday. We understand the importance of an online presence! We want to be able to report announcements, give reminders, post details, post sermons and talk about the things that are most important to our church. Additionally, in the future we will be able to send out updates and new posts through email to those who have subscribed.
2. Build community
Having a platform for members to comment and give feedback on blog posts can spark discussions and interactions between members. The comments to the blog are a great way for members and visitors to meet new people, make new friends, see what they have in common with others, and also learn from one another! We’d also love to be able to share contributions from our members! God has given us all talents and abilities and we love to hear pieces and ideas from others!
3. Increase traffic to our website
Jesus commanded us to go out into the world….and the world is always changing! We need to make sure that people are able to find our church online. People don’t look for a church in a newspaper or phone book anymore. They’ll do a google search to find a church in a city. One of the best ways to make sure our church website is visible and easily comes up in Google is to have a blog. A quote online stated: “Having a church website without a blog is like building a house in the wilderness with no roads to it; it’s unlikely you’ll get many visitors.” As more and more people search for topics that we post on our blog, they will get directed to our blog and inevitably our website, which means that will be able to reach potential people out in the world! The more consistent we are with adding new content the more likely our website will appear high up in web searches. If this sounds like we are trying to promote our website like a business…we ensure you, we are not!
Maybe you are wondering what is a blog?
You may think it’s a fancy technological term and feel it’s overwhelming; but a blog is not nearly as complicated as you may think! A blog is simply a collection of articles published on a website. The term was coined as “weblog” and has been an essential part of the internet culture. Blogs are an amazing platform for sharing the content that you want to share. Blogging will be a huge benefit to our church’s communications strategy and online reach.
Every church wants to do a better job reaching their community. At least we at Gateway do!! We know one of the best ways to impact our community with our website is by running a church blog.
1 Corinthians 12:14 – The body of Christ, or the people that are the whole of humanity, are a team. The body is not supported by one person, but by all of us. We are one, we are the strongest working together in unity. Teamwork is the key to living life in harmony, so that we can do God’s will!
